City water

City water here is treated well — it's just hard, and it tastes treated

Northeast Ohio utilities do their job: they deliver water that meets standards. What they don't do is take out hardness, or the chlorine taste that comes with disinfection. That's the part we handle.

What city-water homeowners tell us

  • White, chalky film on glasses and shower doors
  • Soap and shampoo that never quite lather
  • A chlorine taste or smell at the kitchen tap
  • Crusty buildup on faucet aerators and shower heads
  • Scale in the kettle and around the water heater fittings

None of that is dangerous. It's the comfort and upkeep side of water: how it feels in the shower, how dishes look, how hard your appliances have to work, and whether the water in your glass tastes like anything.

Our city water path

  1. 1. Free in-home testWe measure hardness and the basics right at your tap.
  2. 2. We review your utility's public reportEvery public system publishes an annual Consumer Confidence Report. We read yours with you so the recommendation is based on your actual supply.
  3. 3. A clear recommendationOn city water, the standard package usually fits as-is. If it doesn't, we say so and price the difference before anything is signed.

A note on advisories

If your city issues a boil-water advisory, follow it. Home treatment equipment — ours included — is not a substitute for a public advisory and does not make unsafe water safe to drink. Our systems are for taste, odor, hardness, and scale.

On wells, the picture is different. Read the well water path.
